I have been responsible for $265 million dollars worth of equipment and more than 9 employees at once.
A project to upgrade all of the servers and increase their numbers at Soto Cano AB, was began a year before I arrived. I studied the purchase and began making plans to implement the upgrades (Win 2K to Win 2K3 server). Soto Cano’s 128T Tape Library had broken. Not backups had been done for over a year. I learned that a 136T tape library had been ordered with LTO1 drives. By tracking our growth trend I realized that the LTO1 drives would be too slow to backup our current data according to the backup tables provided by our IA team. It would take days to perform a single full backup. Building tables and charts for presentations I convinced the acting project manager to let me talk to J6 and the DELL sales team. I spoke with our purchasing office, J6, the PM, and the DELL sales team. The 136T had not been built and nothing had been shipped yet. I suggested that they withhold 3 of the 24 servers we had ordered and upgrade the LTO1 drives to LTO3 drives. The idea was accepted. With this new configuration our base was able to make its first tape backups in a year, pass a green team evaluation, and a SAV.

I designed and implemented a proposal to relocate the network operations center (NOC). I designed disaster recovery plans and negotiated procedures with off-site commanders to implement equipment and data storage procedures. I did all this in coordination with Information Assurance (Michael Broady) and our configuration manager (Robert Bennett), making certain that all proposals complied with NSA & DISA guidance.
I have loaded images into Cisco, C1600, C2900, C3500, & C3600 switches.
I have repaired and secured computers
